The RHS is a centre of excellence for the taxonomy and nomenclature of cultivated plants and we are seeking to expand our team of specialists in this important area of our science activity.
Job Title Horticultural Taxonomist
Location RHS Garden Wisley, Woking, Surrey, United Kingdom
Salary Circa 26,000 (GBP) per annum
Closing date Friday 03 October 2014
37.5 Hours per week
We are looking for someone with wide experience in molecular methods and an enthusiasm to apply to them to develop new approaches in horticultural taxonomy. Based in our unique herbarium at RHS Garden Wisley, and with access to the world's largest living collection of horticultural plants, as the successful candidate you will help develop and enhance our taxonomic research and build collaborations with other research organisations. You will also contribute to other aspects of the RHS work to increase the profile of horticultural taxonomy through advice, interpretation and education.
With a PhD and extensive experience publishing papers, you will be a highly motivated individual ambitious to advance a vital but under-resourced area of plant taxonomy. Through scientific meetings you will promote your work and build research partnerships. A thorough knowledge of garden plants will be required.
