A new smartphone app launched by Missouri Botanical Garden curator Dr. Carmen Ulloa provides a digital field guide for identifying 100 species of wild plants found in the páramo, a unique vegetation type at the top of the Andes Mountains of tropical South America.

Available now for the Android operating system (4.0+; Spanish version also available), Flóramo<https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lzm.Cajas&hl=en> includes field images, species descriptions, and an identification key using life forms, flower colors or scientific names. Other features include a map with location of species, routes for personalized records; description of the páramo environment; and related search results from the Garden's Tropicos® database.
