I wanted to share information about the following course:
Tropical Ferns and Lycophytes
Course dates: January 6 - 22, 2017
Application deadline: October 10, 2016 (followed by rolling admissions)
Tropical Ferns and Lycophytes is an intensive, 17-day field introduction to the identification, classification, phylogenetic, ecology and reproductive biology of tropical ferns and lycophytes for up to 22 graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and researchers in the fields of ecology, botany and conservation biology who require a broad knowledge of fern and lycophytes biology. This course is designed to build the diverse skills needed for floristic, taxonomic, phylogenetic and ecological research on tropical ferns. Topics include: Fern ecology, Ecophysiology, Reproductive and gametophyte ecology, methods of field collection and specimen preparation. Building upon this foundation, students will develop their own research projects. In past editions of this course, this has led in a few instances to publishable research results.
Don't miss the opportunity to join us for this 50th Anniversary edition of Tropical Ferns! The very first OTS Tropical Ferns course ran in 1967 and the participant list reads like a Who's Who of pteridology. Be part of a new generation of pteridologists.
