I was asked by Patricia Eckel to forward this query to Taxacomers:

This is a problem that may interest those with a lexicographer's enjoyment of words.

There seems to be some confusion regarding the formation of a Latin word for English words ending in -cyte and derivations to justify various options. Does anyone know of other basic Latin texts than those listed that might offer a definitive solution to this problem? Would anyone like to comment on the suggestions put forth in the Dictionary entry?
