Distributed System of Scientific Collections (DiSSCo)
DiSSCo Connect Event | Leiden, NL | Monday 15 May 2017
The Distributed System of Scientific Collections (DiSSCo) brings together 80 European natural science museums, across 19 countries, aiming at the development and operation of a new pan-European Research Infrastructure (RI). The new RI will (i) mobilise data at the scale, form and precision required across scientific disciplines and (ii) unify physical, remote and virtual access to European collections. Its public offering will include several service classes addressing key needs the scientific community.
DiSSCo will be evaluated by ESFRI for its inclusion to the 2018 European roadmap of RIs 2018.
The event titled "DiSSCo Connect" aims at facilitating the connection between all (internal and external) stakeholders. The meeting will bring together the DiSSCo consortium, key external stakeholders, ESFRI delegates and ministry representatives. It will also provide the opportunity to the wider community to learn about this European initiative and explore ways of participating.
We particularly invite
* European natural science (history) collections senior representatives, especially from organisations and countries not currently participating in the DiSSCo consortium;
* Representatives of international organisations, related to the mission and objectives of DiSSCo;
* Research scientists and managers, who would like to know more on the DiSSCo initiative.
