The name dates from publication with any sort of descriptive or illustrative content associated with it, no matter how brief.

 Hi all

The fossil spider Protolycosa anthracophila was described by Ferdinand Roemer in 1866 (1).

However, he had exhibited it at a meeting of the British Association for the Advancement of Science in 1865 (2) (as well as other meetings in Europe, e.g. 3). The BA meeting was held in Birmingham in September 1865. It was reported in numerous other journals before the report by the Association itself (2) appeared, however, e.g. in the Geological Magazine in October 1865. This report, though short, included the proposed new name: Protolycosa anthracophila.

So, my question is: does Roemer’s name date to 1865, when this report appeared in print? I am presuming it does, even though the detailed description and illustration came later (1).

Thanks for any advice!
